In this weekly Throwback Thursday series, we surface memorable TV advertising spots from days past – ones that made us laugh, inspired us, or sparked an affinity for a brand.
2015 has arrived – another new year, another slew of fitness resolutions. Lose weight, fat, get stronger, leaner, faster. Eat better, feel better, be better. To help you get motivated to begin your new 2015 regimen and make it stick, we bring to you one of the great motivational fitness ads of all time.
In 2004, Adidas borrowed a quote from legendary boxer, Muhammad Ali and made it into one of the brand’s most memorable campaigns. The first TV commercial in “Impossible is Nothing” campaign featured one of Muhammad Ali’s famous long runs. Adidas managed to seamlessly craft together old 1974 footage of Ali running with new footage of contemporary superstar athletes like his daughter Laila Ali, David Beckham, Tracy McGrady and others.
Together with a powerful narrative by Laila Ali, the effect of the spot was powerful, emotional, and captured the attention and imaginations of consumers. The campaign resonated with audiences and became the brand’s new slogan. In 2011, “Impossible is Nothing” was replaced with it’s current slogan “All In.”
